"Health is the greatest possession" - Lao Tzu
My professional path began with earning a B.A. in Dance in 2005 from San Diego State University however, my passion for holistic healthcare arose as a result of my cancer treatment in my 20's. Don't get me wrong, I'm a self professed biomedical knowledge nerd and my oncology team was proficient and caring, but a lot was missing from the experience. The Western medicine approach of treating the disease, rather than treating an individual experiencing a diseased state had felt jarring and incomplete.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from San Diego State University, I began a 20 year career in the wellness industry as a personal trainer and yoga instructor specializing in corrective and functional exercise. During my time as a fitness professional I was loving my work, but I wanted to broaden my scope of practice to help people even more. I therefore enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program at Southern California University of Health Sciences and it was one day after receiving an acupuncture treatments at SCUHS's health clinic I had a lightening bolt realization...acupuncture and Chinese medicine embodied the personalized, whole human approach that I had craved during my cancer treatment (treating body, spirit, and mind)!
I immediately switched tracks and enrolled in Pacific College of Health and Science (formerly Pacific College of Oriental Medicine) in San Diego, and graduated with a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2019. Most recently I have become a Licensed Massage Therapist which expands the treatment modalities I offer to my patients to include both Eastern and Western bodywork. My specialty areas for both acupuncture and bodywork include pain management, orthopedics, emotional balance, and facial rejuvenation.
